PolyU Service-Learning Project in Malipo
Hong Kong Polytechnic University deployed 254 students and faculty to Yunnan's Malipo County for week-long service-learning initiative. Students delivered courses on Chinese history, financial literacy, elderly healthcare technology, and comprehensive eye examinations, serving over 3000 local residents through innovative VR cultural tours.
Geographic reach and partnership networks of elderly communities are expanded significantly.
PolyU-YNU Joint Service Mission to Malipo
Nearly 300 students and teachers from Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Yunnan University collaborated in Malipo County service project. Teams provided cultural education, financial literacy training, VR technology experiences enabling 100+ elderly residents to virtually tour Hong Kong landmarks, plus comprehensive eye care services.

Passionate PolyU students and staff embarked on a powerful service-learning journey to Malipo, Yunnan — a region rich in culture, tradition, and community. Through collaborative and meaningful service-learning projects in areas such as metaverse innovation, Chinese history and cultural preservation, financial education and vision screening, they engaged in and worked closely with local communities to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, exchange ideas, and seek improvements in their lives.
Through passionate engagement and collaborative learning, students transform communities while discovering the true meaning of service.
